Book: The architecture of happiness

The influence of the environment in our frame of mind

In this book, the philosopher Alain de Botton takes a journey through the philosophy and psychology of architecture.

Although concern for the environment is often considered frivolous, for de Botton the place in which we find ourselves physically has an influence on who we can become, as well as on our happiness and our sadness. The philosopher defends that happiness is closely related to the idea we have of ourselves, and to the capacity to connect reality with what should be, and that is reflected in the space and in the objects that surround us.

By alternating ideas, anecdotes and emblematic buildings, the author proves his theory and confirms that the role of the architect in this dimension is essential.
